Yesterday was solid 1300 words. The prompt about the weather reminded me of a crucial scene I still haven’t written. And I have to write more on that today! The whole week has gone pretty well especially since I gave myself grace to start a day later.
I’m gonna post here to the community two things:
If you don’t have a productivity writing group yet make one and meet weekly. It’s been the one thing that has propelled my work forward.
Second thing if anyone has a clue how to write a query for a story collection that is a novel in stories I’d love some advice. My synopsis reads like a series of unfortunate events and that book’s been written!
Thank you for having us, Jami. I've really enjoyed these last few days. And while I have a daily practice of 1000 Words ever since I read Carolyn See's book, Making a Literary Life, there's something special in a communal endeavor. Something that happens energy-wise in the world, that was fun to tap into.
Hi, all. Just did 1,078 words. Today, I went back and made some changes to previous days' efforts that were factually unlikely; new realization this morning! The workaround improved the story. I also realized that in the past I might have given up at this juncture, upon discovering that an idea wouldn't work. But I can fix things! I did fix things. And the overall storyline is better, more nuanced. Thanks, Jami, for the space. Have a great writing day.
I'm working on my 1000 words in the moments of downtime at work today. Thank you for the reminder that the words can be messy, that the important thing is that they are there.
What a week! The words were consistent & so was the pace -- which is a writing miracle. I added 6 days of words to my messy, heartfelt first draft about a group of angsty, love-struck teens. Hope everyone has a great last day!
It's been a good writing week. (I mean, I'm not up yet, but I know I'll make it through this last day.) I feel a little dopey over how often I have to re-learn the same lessons about my characters: if you show up, they will. And they'll bring surprises. Thanks, as always, for this community process.
hi dear writers! I’ve been in a good 1000+ words most days swing since getting back from a research trip to NOLA in early Feb. and so good to feel you all out there this week. Jami, so much gratitude and a blessing on all your projects. everyone: a blessing on all your projects!
In total I added up 8,216 words in the past 6 days. Various projects ranging from just 47 words all the way up to 1500 words. Not Bad! Jamie I thank you for the best 6 writing days in my life. I appreciate this event and you always. *virtual clapping*
Woohoo! I wrote 6,185 words over the 6 days. For these challenges I often switch to journaling because I feel stuck, but this time my goal was 1,000 words of fiction each day. Not good fiction. Just words.
This challenge was just what I needed. Thank you, Jami! I wrote 6,123 words over the last 6 days and I’m now confident that I’ll finish my draft in the next week or two! 🥳🥳
1,342 words today, my biggest haul of the week. 6,947 in total. Very, very happy with that, and with the content of the draft scenes.
This week has proved something to me; that support, in whatever context, be it face-to-face or virtual, can work wonders, as can an imposed deadline and target. I'm now considering a self-imposed week like this every month that I can then spend time afterwards reviewing, re-writing and editing. It feels like real progress can be made that way.
Even on the days where I thought I'd struggle, just starting has been enough and only on one day did I feel the need to force words out. So, thank you Jami (I will buy the book!), and congratulations and thank you to everyone else on here for chipping away at the coalface together, I wish you all the best of luck with your writing.

I had a good Monday and a good yesterday (Wednesday). I’m planning to have a good today, too! Tuesday was tough. Thanks for the encouragement.
Tuesday WAS tough...I hadn't thought of it til you said so

1211 words today. I am about a 1000 words away from finishing Chapter 1 for the book I am writing. That's for tomorrow :)
Thank you for your ongoing support, Jami. Much love. ❤️

1,095. Hardest day this week. Not entirely happy with it, but proud I got there. At lease now I have something to edit.
I just finished my last text. It was a great exercise!
