OK 1354 and I am done. I usually stop at 1000 no matter what but I'm feeling myself this time and I'm really going to go for it. Exciting to dig into this new thing.

I'm doing a Mini -1000, trying to cut that many words a day from my manuscript. Going to think about detail while trying to do more with less, perfect, thank you.

Once again, I'm thrilled to be a part of this. Once again, I have to tend the baby cows first.

I won't be able to start writing until around 1:00.

If you are starting late, just know you're not alone. I'm out here, too.

Good luck, everyone!!

Every time I start a Jami #1000 challenge, I end up talking myself out of it. So many excuses: I’m a micro-writer, I write flash, this isn’t my jam, etc etc etc. This time around, I picked a specific writing project to devote the words to, along with a special notebook dedicated solely to the project (it’s super top secret and all I’m gonna say is: it involves food) and begrudgingly began the challenge.

And even though my project involves 100-word microstories—my customary MO—I wrote 1100 words yesterday! Thanks to all in this inspiring community.

I wrote 1017 words yesterday—part of the opening chapter of a memoir I am writing and today I wrote 1163 words—finishing that chapter and starting the 2nd one! I am very much enjoying this support and encouragement!

Meticulous. Obsessive. The corners. Thank you for coming up with a different angle, another way in. One of my characters is a very quiet young woman who is always watching; today, I will find out what she sees but does not, yet, understand.

1250 words today. Most on my substack letter for tomorrow, the rest on my novel in progress. It feels great!

Good morning. Today, day 2 of our mini-challenge, I wrote 1,127 words of a scene from a chapter that is the third climactic event of my novel. It's the end of the rewrite manifesting. I sat down in my usual place, predawn at Dunkin Donuts, and started a scene that I threw out. I then found the current that carried me forward and was in a blissful state of creation for the last hour and a half. Thanks, Jami, for bringing us together so we can swim together.

Yesterday I did 600. Today, I've done 500 and can feel myself hitting a wall. I may come back to it later on today, but for right now, I'm really happy with the fact that this project has already gotten me 1100 more words than what I had when I started.

Wrote 1,026 words yesterday--got an earlier start this morning and pumped out 510 words. Taking a break and will write some more later!

Morning! Excited for day 2! I wrote a scene in my book-in-progress. Once, in my daughter's hospital room, she was in the bathroom and I, for whatever reason, decided not to wait to remove the underwire in my bra that had been poking me for hours. I reached down the front of my shirt and twisted and pulled at it until it came free, and with it me, and then her doctor walked in and I had to stuff myself back into my shirt and apologize. This is a man I had to see regularly, who to this day I still see regularly. It's a funny moment in a not-funny book and it was a pleasure to write. 1,220 words.

I wrote a scene yesterday that introduced a character. I think today I will write a different scene in a different setting introducing that character. One that can also introduce more interesting details.

Good morning, everyone! Well, words are slippery things: sometimes they come, sometimes they go. I had to revise yesterday’s work because I realized I had a character present on screen (so to speak) who was in another vehicle. Had to rework yesterday’s pages a bit. Got two pages done total, so probably more like 500 words. Need a choreography - and coffee - break. Wishing you all bonne chance today!
