Hi friends. Today we will write 1000 words. Because we are writing for our lives. We’ve got three months left in the year. What did you want to accomplish this year? What goals did you set for yourself? Did you want to finish a proposal? Did you want to write three new short stories? Did you finally want to complete the novel? Did you want to re-examine your voice just to see what the hell you sound like these days? Did you want to reconnect with your playful and creative side?
My goal is just to write for the next 6 days. I sort of lost myself this year, or maybe just my passions. Things got shifted around and (re)prioritized. I haven't read a book in a few months, haven't taken a photo in longer. I've written a few sentences here and there. All these passions that I used to talk about and be proud of, stalled. I want to write for the next 6 days to commit to them again, to make a space for them. Because I do believe that if I make space for one, the rest will follow. I'm at my best and most creative when my passions are all active and fulfilled.
Oh! Good morning, Jami & all you other writers! I got almost weepy when I saw this in my in box. With help of #1000words & the last mini, I finished the 1st draft of my novel. I printed it out a couple of weeks ago & set it aside to start revising today, with the energy of this community. Yesterday, I found myself thinking, does my book need more of an "oh no she didn't" episode? I think it does. And what can it be? Maybe I will find out this week. And be through another draft by year's end. Especially now that I've been reminded there's still time. I wish you all not only happy writing, but also the hard writing that makes good work.
For the next six days, I'm going to take half-finished (or barely started) stories and essays and bring them into full first drafts. This basket of half-formed goblins has been nattering at me all summer to finish them, so WOOT! Let's go! Thank you, Jami!
Goal is to simply write the next 6 days. Goal by end of year is to set up schedule to write . Exploring essay writings and researching how & where to submit. 3 hr Zoom session today to jump start me!
Thank you for this! I gave birth to my first child this August so writing's been low on my priority list. And gosh, I miss it! 1000 words a day is the perfect way to get back into it. And my goal for the rest of 2021 is to finish my novel draft -- only about 1/3 left to go!
Locked and loaded! Would like to pull together the endless scraps of the first book in this seemingly endless story by the end of this year! Discipline is what I seek and need to accomplish this! These Mini's get me to the table, good luck everyone!
I had kind of a horrible evening last night, and did not sleep well. I was not optimistic when I opened my document. But 1,006 words later, the world seems like less of a trash heap? Thank you Jami, and thank you to this amazing community. We've got this!
Thanks for hosting this week again, Jami. I really use this time as story sprinting and it helps so much. I'm in the middle (the muddle) of my current WIP draft and aiming squarely to get my protagonist through ACT 2. My goal is to have a working draft/rough draft/draft zero by 11/1. Best of luck with your writing this week, Everyone.
"To finish this book in 2021. Three months from now. Let's go." End of my 8:30am sleepy 1000 word Miami mess -- before reading your e-mail, so 😍! TY (again) for getting us all started!
Hello Jami and hello fellow writers! Thank you so much for another Mini 1000!! I'm doggedly continuing to manifest the story of the little girl that walked on to my page for the first time during the 1000 Words of Summer this year (my first-ever 1000 words challenge). My goal is to finally finish the rough draft of this story so I can launch into revisions! If I finish it before the end of the Mini, I'll fling myself headlong back into the memoir I abandoned a few years ago. Or, given the mystical nature of this 1000 word exercise, who knows what I might write about once the story rough draft is finished? I will trust the process and go where my pen leads me.
Day 1 of Fall Mini 1000
Exactly 1000 and done. 🙏

After completing a 61K first draft from this summers session I want to revise the parts I know still need filling in.
THANK YOU JAMI!

Final push to finish this final draft. Six thousand new words will get me halfway there. LET’S GO.

I’m going to write unceasingly on a book proposal that needs some unedited rumination to test its wings as an idea. Thank you, Jami!
I just want to get back into a groove with my writing. I plan on just letting the words flow and see what happens

Trying to forge ahead with my first draft of my first novel…writing the parts I know, developing the parts I don’t yet know.
