Good morning, everyone! Long-time supporter of this project, first-time participant. Though I've been a subscriber for a while, I always felt a pang of disappointment (maybe grief?) when I didn't commit to fully participating, or wrote for one day and then didn't continue. This time, I'm doing the full Mini 1000, and my goals are to 1.) start (and maybe, goddess forbid, enjoy) my own regular writing practice, 2.) generate a bunch of new material and see what stands out to me, and 3.) join a community to make real this solo, sometimes isolating journey. So, I wrote 1,111 words this morning (I'm in Berlin, so I got a head start!) and I am so excited to continue and to cheer everyone on!
Good morning Jami and all. Yes to getting rid of August and yes to today's 1000 words. I'm embarking on a new project to develop my essay writing skills and I'm starting with a photo essay that I have been dreaming of for years. That's today's project. Tomorrow will be back to my non-fiction book proposal...got to get my sample chapters ready for prime time!
Hello all! This just came across my desk today and sounds like a great way to spend a few days. My time zone is already nearly done with the 29th, and I’ve got 1100 words to report. I think I’m going to try five days of working on personal essays and see how I feel about the prospect of continuing with them at the end! Good luck all!
Hello Jami and fellow writers! I’ll take this train to finish 4 stories about forest for a science museum. 1 is at the final stage, 2 are first drafts and one is still in my head, ready to go out. Happy to be here to feel the good vibes!
1,057 messy words later and feeling stupidly self-conscious for posting here in the comments, but whatever, I like accountability! Thank you for keeping this up for all these years. Your 1000 Words book has been a godsend lately for quick bursts of motivation and inspiration.
A couple of years ago I started working on a romance novel, but I've since lost my fire for the genre. I still have deep love for these characters, so I am embarking on a project to un-romancify my wip and plop them in a new and different kind of story. Looking forward to a new jumpstart for my writing practice!
I forgot this was happening until I saw it in my inbox. It's been a struggle of a summer writing-wise, and without this it probably would have been another day I didn't write.
Thank you for your work and words ... and persistence. I mean, I've been reading your posts for years. Every time, I'm like, I'm doing this. But: kids, work, life, the damn dog getting into the garbage, thinking about making that colonoscopy appointment. Today, though, I'm writing. Finally. And it's not 115 degrees in Chicago for me to find an excuse.
Good morning, writers! It’s 1008 for me today. Adding scenes to existing work. They didn’t come easy but they came eventually so I’ll take it. Have a productive day, everyone!
I always feel so weird commenting on anything but I'm diving in. 1014 words for me today toward my novel-in-progress. Trying so hard to keep the 1,000/day streak going until I have my shitty first draft done. Thank you, Jami, for creating this community.
I don't know how many times I've done these, but I'm always happy when #1000 words comes around! A few of my Substack subscribers said they would check this out, so here's hoping some of them join us here! So happy to be in community here, thank you Jami!
OK 1008 for me on the last day of work for my character before the writer's strike started, and I'm going to walk the dog now! Good luck

Hi everyone from a condo 13 miles north of Boston, MA. This mini is exactly what I needed to begin my first messy draft of part three of my novel.
691 words and it’s only 7:40 am. I’m on my way. Cheers to you and happy writing!

Love this, hard agree, sorry to stalk you on another platform.
The stalking is mutual, I’m glad you’re here too because twitter is so depressing!!!

Glad you're here!
I'm not writing a novel but I've decided to try this challenge! 1000 words a day are a lot! Good luck everybody! Already over 600 words.
