Excited for this, too! I'm so glad we get a second shot at 1000 words. I have a week's worth of flash (mix of fiction and essays) that I'll be working on. I'll be at a residency for the month, which means I will actually get time to write these first drafts before I switch gears and edit my novel. Thank you, Jami, for doing this again! ❤️
Started the note that will contain my topics in a handy checklist format this morning! I've got to make some headway on the 2nd draft of my book, and this is coming with perfect timing as I've been pretty discouraged this week.
Hi Everyone. I've never participated in this, and I'm super excited! I'm going to be working on my novel. Like Gabriela, I am going to be at a residency at the time. I feel very lucky that I'll have the space and time to give this my best. Looking forward to it.
Yes, blending my memoir with my search for my long-lost cousin, and turning it into unapologetically and very thinly veiled fiction. Since my family will hate me for the truth, I might as well have fun and put in some stuff that should have been true, too.
Got some encouraging feedback doing practice pitches with some agents at an IN PERSON (still can't believe it, and I was there!) writers conference over the weekend. So now I guess I'll be working on actually finishing the thing.
So thrilled to have this motivation. I'm finally starting the novel that has been kicking around my brain and heart for the past 20 years. Thanks for the nudge!
Thanks, Jami, for doing this and sharing it with us. I will be working on a revision of a section in Part One of my novel. My group workshopped it a month ago, and their rigorous ideas to improve it have given me a tall task. I started with handwritten notes, and now I feel ready to go full steam ahead. BTW I do a bi-monthly newsletter, and today we sent out September. I gave your summer challenge a plug—the Next Chapter by Rosemary Porto. I cannot figure out a way to send you the link, and it isn't on my website yet. To be continued...

I am working on three essays for a fellowship and am so excited to have this guidance and community!
LFG.
Oh yeah!

I will be ready! Going away for the weekend and will be compiling my writing prompts. Love this encouraging atmosphere.

I don't know yet, but I will by Monday.
I *finally* made myself sit down and figure out my plot problem, so now is a perfect time for this. I need to rebuild my momentum.

Ready! First half = last chapters of a revision, second half = fun new story. Thanks for doing this!
