Hi friends.
Today we will write 1000 words. Together. Because we have a desire or a need to channel a specific kind of emotional truth that is only available to us when we write. Let’s get in there, let’s dig deep, let’s see what we’ve been hiding.
It’s day 5, and you got this. Did you even imagine you would write five days in a row? And yet, you have.
One more obsession for you:
Today is a good day to get obsessed with the past, the history, the back story, the moment—or years—before the scene you are writing happened. You can't quite know where the story is going to until you know where it's been already. Even if you don’t use this piece of history you create or access, you can write from a more informed place because of it. We linger in our history because we can learn from it.
OK, let’s go now. One thousand words. Don’t stop until you finish!
Jami
There is work being done on my house and it was too noisy to write and then I went to a cafe and *they* were having work done on the interior and then I headed to another cafe but I had to wait ten minutes for a train to pass first and then I finally made it to the cafe and the guy sitting next to me was SNIFFLING so I had to move to another seat but I finally got 1035 done.
Good morning. I just finished 1,198 words that came smoothly. The scene is progressing. As for the past, before the scene obsessions: there are several connections in what I'm doing now to events that had happened years a generation before. That parallel is the point here, so thanks, Jami, for pointing at this marker in the road. Cheers!
