2000 words approximately, and it feels good to not just get words out, but also really begin writing. It still happens in fits and starts, and sputters, but I’m really beginning to feel like I’m… a writer? I mean, I’ve written before, but this is the first time I’ve gone beyond an essay. It’s like running a mile instead of a relay. It’s a new experience for me, and I’m fascinated. Thanks again for this check-in, everyone!

"I hope you know these letters are just a gentle reminder: that you can do this all on your own." AAAAHHHH, thank you, Jami. Needed that today. #1789 in the morning session by hand, something I haven't done in a while, but even before reading this letter, I was called to my journal early this morning from dreams. I got it down and then kept going. Also: funny! That's my go-to when the story needs a kick-start.

Wrote my first 1,000 words early this morning and felt motivated to keep going. So I took a little break then came back to write another 1,000. Feeling a faint pulse in this WIP. Thank you, Jami and everyone, for your guidance and wisdom!

1360 words and I was surprised by where they took me. I outlined my novel before I started, but as I write about these characters I find I don't always get to decide what they do. :)

1050 and done. Really just powering through. I know what I need to write to finish the chapter, and am hoping to get it done tomorrow. It is so messy it is hilarious though. Hope you all have a successful day!

Guilty!!! I will now stop wasting valuable time on the bad art friend story & get to my own work. PSA: if I took anyone's conversation to make my work, it's not you, & anyway, I changed it. H'mmm...sex? Food? Money???

AHEM am starting work (or, rather, day job) late because I wanted to finish my 1000 words in the morning, while I was still fresh. Totally worth it.

I'm now getting to the point where I have a lot of words desperately in need of shaping. Kind of like what my hair looked like at the end of quarantine? But I put 1,009 on the page today, and some of them I even liked. There will be ample time to give them all a haircut later.

Your encouragement never fails to move me. Thank you, Jami. I wrote 730 words early this am and will complete my 1000 after my day job this evening. I'm so appreciating this Mini 1000 more than ever!

Coming into this week with a list of projects to choose from definitely helps! For Day 5, I'm reworking a short story that takes place in Sicily. I couldn't quite get it to land in the first draft, but I love these characters and I have enough distance from it now to go back in and edit! Thank you, Jami, and to everyone for their camaraderie!

I feel like I'm really "into it" this time. I prepped with some random prompts and I never know where they'll take me. Some days have been interesting, almost all the days have been rewarding. And you're right, we can do this on our own but it's so much better with you, Jami. Thanks so much.
