lost a few days on a sudden trip to care for aging parents -- on a good day I try to rep my generation/time in life as the filling in a cookie like an oreo instead of some kind of slippery deli meat. I'll try to get back to a bit of the stillness and find a glimmer to write up.

This morning I decided to pick the most shameful moment, something that happened forty years ago, no big deal really, and explore why it has stuck with me. It wasn't fun, but it was honest and revelatory and will help the larger story immensely. Thanks for the impetus to get ass in chair and fingers on the keyboard, writing early in the morning before anyone else is awake and having needs.

Didn't start to write till after a long day of work. Got another 1005 words on the page. I know I don't have to announce it each day, but it helps keep me going if I do. Thanks for holding this space for anyone who needs it.

I re-wrote all of yesterdays 1000 as todays 1000 and I'm going to say that's a ok. Definitely feeling that circling around little but important moments. thank you.

I got about a thousand words done, inserted into a chapter I'm working on, and removed plenty others. (I had to compare the word count from yesterday to today's, because otherwise I had no idea how many words I edited out and put in!). I solved the problem of how the killer got rid of the body and evidence before dying, himself. It was a little less melodramatic, but the change in method opened up another thing I'm happy to braid into the story, which gives another, more important character more depth and humor and imagination, which is desirable. It was nice getting to know her better. Did some research into enslaved people's rebellions in South America for another part of the chapter.

Finally making time for writing this week. Wrote something I've been putting off, intuiting my way through how I wanted it to feel. Thank you for the encouragement.

I did a boatload of polishing the material I already have, and today it's all about sitting down to tell a new story. Feeling that familiar 'But WHAT??' However, I am embarking upon today's 1K now. Cheers, All!

I love this description of waiting to write something like you'd wait for a first kiss. Thank you for inspiring us!

Have I worked on my novel the way I wanted to? No.

Have I worked on anything fiction? Sort of, but no.

I did get my article pitch accepted, so I'll be working on that, so yay!

I love that moment, when you've got it all fizzing in your head, and you're excited to get it down. I just did the same thing whilst taking my dog round the park, letting ideas build and stack, subtract and divide. Now to get it all out.

Thanks for pointing out the joy, it's there, but sometimes you need someone to say, “Hey! This is fun, remember?”

I'm revising and have a scene I love that I've been holding off on - not sure why. Maybe today is the day to tackle it. Thanks for the inspiration.

For this post, my comment is a simple, "Thank you, for this unusual way of spurring us on."
