Hi friends.

Today you will write 1000 words. And so will I.

It’s the halfway point. Congrats if you’ve made it this far. Four days in a row of writing is no joke — it’s challenging. It can be frustrating, or make us feel anxious.

Is today a good day to really lean into that challenge? Lean into the weird bits, the hard bits, the dark corners. Don’t skim the surface or be superficial. Dig deep. Write into the fears. Walk right into that space and turn on all the bright lights. We need to be able to see everything. We need to see the real truth. Don’t be afraid to speak the truth.

I know you can do this.

Good luck,

Jami

You are reading the #Mini1000, an offshoot of #1000wordsofsummer and the Craft Talk newsletter from Jami Attenberg. My most recent book is I Came All This Way To Meet You: Writing Myself Home available at all bookstores, and definitely your local indie.

I know I’ve said that it’s still “today” while you’re awake, but finishing Thursday’s words at 4:45 on Friday morning seems kind of extreme. Still, 1028–I’ll take it!
