Hi friends.
Today we’re going to write 1000 words. Together. Because are desperately curious people who are deeply fascinated with the behaviors of others, and the way the world operates, and the best way we know of to make sense of it all is through our words. We find words interesting; we find storytelling interesting. We find the pure act of being creative interesting. God, please give us something to do that will satisfy our inquisitive, restless selves.
So today we write from that place of deep curiosity. We start there with whatever we are trying to understand and uncover. And we will write 1000 words today.
Welcome to the first day of the Mini 1000. It’s going to be a great, productive, inspiring weekend. As always, you can leave your word count in the comments, and I will also be checking #mini1000 over at bluesky and on instagram. If you like, today, you can also share in the comments something you’re curious about that you’re trying to explore in your writing.
If you’d like to support me personally, I wrote a bunch of books, or you can subscribe. But this is meant to be free, a way for all of us to write alongside together. A beautiful piece of driftwood we can cling to for a few days in this wild ocean of modern life.
Now it’s time to figure some shit out. Go write. One thousand words. Today.

1020 and done for the day. I'm on day 12 here of a longer run and I'm doing more scattered, dreamy stuff at this point, more ambient in some ways, more metaphysical thinking. Just curious about what we choose to remember and what we choose to forget and how that impacts us over a lifetime.
1090 words written through tears, as I questioned, tried to understand and poked around a fuzzy childhood memory around the night my mum wanted to leave my dad. I’m shaken and stirred. And grateful.
