Day 1 of the Mini 1000

Fill in the blank

Hi friends.

Today we will write 1000 words. Together, today, all of us.

This first day is a fill-in-the-blank kind of day.

I started off early this morning by writing this:

I am writing today because…

There are so many ways to end this sentence. We all have our reasons we’re here at this moment.

For example: Because I have something to say to the world. Because I want to find my first (or last) agent. Because I love books. Because I have a deadline that I cannot miss. Because I want to make some money. Because I believe in my art. Because I want to accomplish something. Because I need this one thing for me. Because I want to finish what I started.

I filled mine in like this: Because I am dying to know more about these characters and what drives them to do what they do.

How would you fill in yours? Can you write your “why” very simply? I’m leaving the comments open today to everyone, if you want to drop just one sentence in there. Claim your reason for being here, with all the rest of us, and for being on the page.

And then write your fucking heart out today.

There are around 2,000 of us doing this together, and I know you all are serious as a heart attack. I don’t need to coddle you. I can sense your hunger over the internet. So let’s get to work on that blank page everyone.
